Baug
Sayaji
Baug, also known as Kamati Baug is situated on
river Vishwamitri. It was built by SayajiRoa III
in 1879 A.D. and covers an extensive area of 113
acres. It contains an excellent Zoo, Museum and
Picture Gallery, a Small Museum of Health and
Hygiene. Band Stand is the finest part of the
park with green carpet of lawns interspersed by
paths Greeco Roman and other sculptures placed
on pedestals at intervals. The park with fountains,
lawns and trees is a beautiful corner of Vadodara.
It is well looked after by the Municipal Corporation
and further added its beauty by installing a floral
clock and a fine building for a planetarium. This
park has become a recreation centre and a fine
beauty spot in Vadodara.
Toy Train
is one of the main attractions of Sayajibaug as
this runs on the smallest track of 10” width.
It is a joy ride of about 3.5 K.M. giving the
entire view of the garden to the children. The
locomotive Toy Railway was installed about 20
years ago.
Ajwa
Brindavan Pattern Garden
Situated at a distance of 23 kms. from Vadodara
Ajwa is an ideal place for weekend picnic. Sayaji
Sarovar which has been a chief source of water
supply to the city is situated here. Spending
a few minutes by the side of a lake is a matter
of experience. The Municipal Corporation of Vadodara
has prepared a beautiful garden by the side of
the Ajwa lake which is resembling with the Vrindavan
Garden of Mysore. Illuminated fountains are operated
on every Saturday, Sunday, Monday and other public
holidays. A separate musical fountain is a majour
attraction for the visitors. The entire garden
seems to havd turned in to a fairy land when all
the fountains are illuminated in the evening.
Regular S.T. buses, Private buses and auto rickshaws
are available.
Lal Baug
A beautiful garden stripe and a picnic spot for
city people. It is the second most popular garden
of the city.
JUBILEE
GARDEN
Situated in Raopura area this lovely
garden has excellent lawns, flowerbeds and row
of trees. It was laid out to commemorate the silver
jubilee of Sir Sayajirao III In its center is
a circular wooden pavilion to the west of which
is a compassionate colossal statue of Lord Buddha
meditating and sitting crossed legs in lotus.
